DIY - Do It Yourself
Wank/Wang Factor
Stuff you can do to your Chaser that will yield very little overall value and that no one will notice BUT you just couldn't help yourself getting this stuff from Yahoo Auctions Japan anyway. If that sounds like you, read on...
Aesthetics (possibly rice ?!?!?)
Clear Indicators
Your choice really...
LED & S2 Tail Lights
Whatever floats your boat.
Series 1
Series 2
Lexus Wiper Blades
These Lexus wiper blades are not just the rubber refills, instead, they're actually the complete lower half of the windscreen wiper. While you can get similar products from your local Supercheap or Autobarn, these are actually very nice even if they're a little Lexus expen$ive. They're a one piece aero design and come in different lengths to suit your needs.
I've had then on the car for almost two years now and they still work like new.
Lexus Door Hinge Covers
Don't ask!
Lexus Door Lock Covers & Chrome Replacements
Again, don't ask!
Before you get started, this is the hex bit you'll need to remove and install the door locks.
TRD'ised (AKA Brand Whore-ing)
TRD Radiator Cap
TRD Radiator cap, looks kinda purdy, don't it? It also increases the pressure in your cooling system and raises the boiling point slightly, but then what?
TRD Thermostat
Right up there with the TRD Radiator cap I guess. Unless you NEED to replace your OEM thermostat then there's probably not much use going out of your way to chuck the TRD equivelent in there. Again, I think, it basically raises the temp at which it opens (over stock).
TRD Speedo (AKA Full Scale Meter)
Again, rare, unless it already came with your car. Otherwise it'll set you back between $350-$450 for a second hand unit.
TRD Oil Cap
There are 3 (from memory) different styles of TRD oil caps available, two metalic ones and a plastic (lightweight) one. However, as far as I know, only one type of metal TRD oil cap will fit the venerable 1JZ/2JZ.
Both types of metal TRD Oil caps look exactly the same externally.
However, for our 1J's we need the one like the one on the right in the picture below (non screw type).
TRD Steering Wheel
These babies are quite rare (discontinued) and rather expensive, even second hand! But, they are factory, that means that they are a proper airbag steering wheel which makes then a legal replacement. I quite like the look of them as well, compared to the chunky four spoke monstrosities that come as standard.
So what are you waiting for, go out and grab yourself a TRD SRS Steering Wheel today...
There can be issues, however, with installing different series steering wheels on your Chaser. This is mainly to do with the electrical connector used for the airbags which is different between series/models.
If you find yourself in this situation, this is the little doo-hicky you'll need to install your airbag steering wheel correctly (Part # 09082-00760).
TRD Gear Knob
Why? Just because I guess...
